A Family Visiting from AustraliaThis is a real stay experience for those who would like to experience everyday life in Japan while visiting Tokyo. At Kinoie, guests can enjoy a stay that feels more like living in Japan than staying in a hotel, thanks to our tatami rooms and kitchen-equipped space. In this article, we would like to introduce the stay of a family who visited us from Australia in the spring of 2025.
With Tokyo Station only about 7 minutes away and easy access to places such as Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree, guests can comfortably enjoy both sightseeing and a relaxing stay.
Hello, my name is Shioya, and I am a staff member working at this accommodation.
Today, I would like to introduce a family from Australia who stayed with us in the spring of 2025.
The family of four—parents and two children—stayed with us for one week and enjoyed both sightseeing and everyday life experiences that are unique to Japan.
I would like to share some of their impressions and memorable episodes from their stay, based on what I heard directly from them.
This family traveled from Australia and chose our accommodation as their base for sightseeing in Tokyo. Spring in Tokyo coincides with cherry blossom season and is a lively time of year, filled with visitors enjoying walks around the city. The family mentioned several times how convenient it was to have easy access to places such as Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree, Nihonbashi, and Ginza.
One especially memorable moment was seeing the children delightedly holding ningyo-yaki sweets while walking along Nakamise Street in Asakusa.
The parents also enjoyed the historic atmosphere of Senso-ji Temple and were impressed by the contrast between the traditional streetscape and the modern Tokyo Skytree nearby. They also visited Nihonbashi and Ginza, and seemed very taken with the refined cityscape that is so characteristic of Japan.

One of the things the family especially appreciated during their stay was how close the accommodation is to the station.
When traveling with children, having only a short walk back after a day of sightseeing can make a big difference. They were also very pleased to have a convenience store nearby.
While traveling, it is common to suddenly need something, so they found it very convenient to be able to shop easily whenever necessary.
They also told us that they never had trouble finding places to eat because there were so many restaurants nearby. In particular, they appreciated that many places stay open late into the evening, so they could still enjoy dinner without worry even after returning from sightseeing. It reminded me once again that this kind of convenient location is a major advantage for families staying for a longer period.
For this trip, the family brought a stroller with them. It is an essential item when traveling with small children, but in Japan it can sometimes be difficult to find a place to keep it at hotels or other accommodations. At our facility, however, we have a space where strollers can be stored, so the family was able to use it with peace of mind.
I still remember the mother smiling as she told us, “It was really helpful to have a place where we could put the stroller away easily every time we came back from sightseeing.” It made me realize once again that even small facilities like this can provide a great sense of comfort and reassurance for guests visiting from overseas.

One of the things the family said left the strongest impression on them during their stay was the experience of letting their child lie down and relax in a tatami room. In Australia, there are very few opportunities to experience tatami, so being able to play and nap on it was something very new and special for them.
The parents also happily told us that seeing their child lying comfortably on the tatami became one of their fondest memories of the trip. The softness and natural scent of tatami are symbols of Japanese culture, and I felt once again that being able to experience this kind of everyday Japanese living is one of the major attractions for families visiting from overseas.
During their one-week stay, the family efficiently visited sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree, Nihonbashi, and Ginza. Because our accommodation offers convenient access to central Tokyo, it is especially well suited to travelers who want to visit many places in a limited amount of time. In particular, it seems that having a place to stay that never felt too far to return to was one of the keys to a comfortable trip.
They also told us that staying here made them feel as though they were experiencing everyday life in Japan, not simply staying at a hotel. This style of accommodation—staying as if living here rather than just lodging somewhere—seemed to be a perfect fit for their family trip.

This family from Australia fully enjoyed sightseeing in Tokyo during spring while also spending a comfortable one-week stay with us. Being close to the station, having a convenient neighborhood, providing a space to store a stroller, and offering a chance to experience Japanese culture in a tatami room all seemed to contribute to a satisfying stay.
As staff, we were deeply encouraged by the family’s smiles and by hearing them say that they would like to stay with us again. We will continue to support our guests with care so that visitors from Japan and abroad alike can enjoy a comfortable and reassuring stay with us.
